Driving along the Murray Town Road (ironic, as I live right next door to Murray Town), we pass and are passed by dozens of minibuses. Together with taxis, these are the most popular form of transport. Taxi ride costs about 600-1000 Leones (<20p) and is also sometimes shared with as many other people as you can squeeze in the car. Taxis are nowhere near as crammed as the minibuses. Think mini/camper van, rather than a luxurious western style minibus. It should probably seat about 6, but by the number hands and heads poking out of every available hole, and a few extra holes (presumably made for air), these are literally filled to bursting point, and I feel sorry for the unlucky soul who was unfortunate enough to be the first onboard, and is now sat at the back, as I don't think emergency exits mean anything when it comes to minibuses. I'm also reminded of a cockerel I heard on my first morning, reminds me of the countryside…not what I was expecting in hectic Freetown.
I've made a Google map of some points of interest in Sierra Leone, there's not much in there at the moment (you should be able to see where I live, and work) , but I might add to it, as time progresses. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=115393511284727900225.00046dd5c161ae20b6838
